Are you looking for tips on replacing a padel grip? Do you want to know the difference between a basic grip and an overgrip? Or are you curious about the benefits of a Core padel grip ? On this page we answer all your questions about grips.

What is a basic grip?

The base grip is the standard grip that is applied to your padel racket by the manufacturer. This forms the basis of your racket and can, depending on your personal preference, be supplemented with an overgrip for extra comfort and better performance.

What is an overgrip?

An overgrip is an extra layer of grip that you apply over the existing grip of your racket. This can be done directly on the base grip or on a Core padel grip. Using an overgrip offers several advantages, such as:

  • Improved grip control
  • Extra comfort
  • Absorption of sweat
  • Extending the life of the base grip

An overgrip is an essential part of maintaining your racket and can significantly improve your playing experience.

How do I choose the right grip size?

When applying a grip it is important that it fits well and securely around your handle. A loose or sloppy applied grip can affect your playing. Here are some helpful tips:

  • Keep your thumb on the grip as you wrap it around the handle.
  • Start at the bottom of the handle.
  • Make sure the grip remains tight while wrapping.

What do you need?

  • An overgrip
  • A pair of scissors

Step-by-step guide to applying an overgrip

Step 1: Remove the old overgrip or base grip

Carefully peel the old grip off the handle, starting at the top. Be careful of any glue residue that may damage the base grip.

Step 2: Prepare the new overgrip

Take a new overgrip from the package. Use the sticky end to attach the grip to the bottom of the handle.

Please note : Our overgrips have protective plastic layers on both sides. Remove these for optimum grip.

Step 3: Wrap the overgrip securely around the handle

Once the sticky start is set, begin wrapping the grip tightly around the handle. As you wrap, consider the amount of overlap:

  • More overlap = thicker grip.
  • Less overlap = thinner grip.
Be careful not to create air bubbles or wrinkles for a smooth result.

Step 4: Finish the overgrip neatly

Once you reach the top of the handle, make sure the last piece is secure. Use the supplied tape or the existing edge of your racket to firmly secure the grip. For a clean finish, you can cut the last piece at an angle.
